45th anniversary of the collapse of the Pier

45 years ago today on Friday 16th October 1970 two spans of the pier collapsed when the owners, Clevedon Urban District Council,  were carrying out a load test.

Do you remember that day, and do you have stories to tell? Please let our archivist know as we are collecting a community archive of key moments in the history of our beautiful pier. Please call in at our shop at No. 4 The Beach with your stories or email history@clevedonpier.com

If you would like to know more about the work being done to catalogue Clevedon Pier And Heritage Trust’s collection of images, documents and artefacts then you can down load the latest History Group newsletter here: [fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][ddownload id=”2774″]
