After ten years, the Glass Box is getting a new chapter.
The Glass Box has been an important part of the Pier since it opened in 2016, welcoming visitors for food, drinks and special events. But a lot has changed over the past decade, from visitor expectations and food trends to the costs of running hospitality businesses.
So, after Tuesday 25 August, the Glass Box will close to day-to-day trading while we take the opportunity to review and refresh the offer.
This is not a decision we’ve taken lightly. We want to make sure the Glass Box continues to be a welcoming and enjoyable part of the Pier, while developing an offer that is sustainable for the future.
What happens next?
We’re still developing the details, but we’re exploring a simpler food and drink offer, with options such as light lunches, sandwiches, toasties, cakes and drinks, alongside other ways the space could be used.
The recent refresh of the Pagoda and the Trust’s acquisition of the Market Hall also gives us an opportunity to think about how our different spaces can work together to create a stronger experience for visitors.
This is a change of direction, not the end of the Glass Box.
We’re taking the time to listen, rethink and get the offer right, so that when the Glass Box reopens, it is ready for the next chapter of the Pier.
We’ll share more details about the new offer and reopening date as plans develop.
In the meantime, we look forward to welcoming you to Fish & Chip Fridays throughout September.
If you have an existing booking with the Glass Box, our team will be in touch over the next few days, to confirm what this means for your booking.
