Local man Ralph Fryer was a keen amateur film maker and on the day that Clevedon Pier collapsed he rushed home, got his camera, and went down to the beachfront to record what happened. Later in the day Ralph went down to the Pill, boarded a small boat and sailed out to see the damage in more detail. The late Ralph Fryer’s film and explanatory note are amongst the most poignant items in the Clevedon Pier & Heritage trust archive. You can view the film here.
