The rich environment around the Pier is full of wonderful wildlife including (we think) Porpoises. There have been formal sightings at Brean Down and in Portishead however these shy visitors haven’t been formally recorded in the Estuary at Clevedon simply because there isn’t a survey.
Time to fix that and so this summer and on the dates below an hour before and after the tide we are poise hunting (in the friendly surveying way) guided with the help of our expert partner The Seawatch Foundation. Fancy spending a happy two hours at the Pier Head looking and logging? The exciting things is that you might be the famed first person to prove that porpoises are out there.
Normal Pier Entry, bring a picnic, grab something from Tiffin, no equipment required although binoculars are welcomed.
Sea Watch Foundation Improve the conservation and protection of whales, dolphins and porpoises in British and Irish waters, they run one of largest and longest running sightings schemes in the world.
