After nearly 8 years, Simon Talbot-Ponsonby has decided to retire as Chairman with effect from 31st May.

During his time as Chairman, Simon has been instrumental in transforming the Pier into one of North Somerset’s premier attractions through the major development and completion of our new Visitor Centre.

Simon’s valuable experience and knowledge gained in over 29 years involvement with the Pier (26 as a Trustee), will not however be lost as he will remain on the Board as a Director.

I am sure that everyone will join us in thanking Simon for the phenomenal commitment and unstinting dedication he has shown over the last 8 years, and wish him a very well earned rest.

Following Simon’s decision, we are pleased to announce that Phil Curme will take over as Chairman with effect from 1st June.

Phil has been a Director since 2014 and has been responsible for introducing the innovative interpretive displays in the Toll House that are key to our new proposition, as well as developing our restaurant partnership with Tiffin.

Simon comments – “I am delighted Phil has agreed to become Chairman.  Having worked closely with him during the last three years I know that he will bring huge commitment, energy and enthusiasm to the post.  Clevedon Pier is lucky to have Phil to lead it through the new challenges in the next chapter of its eventful history.”

We wish Phil every success as he leads the Trust into an exciting future.
